Fritz's Polka Band rocked West Point
01/07/2008

WEST POINT - Fritz's Polka Band (FPB) from Verona, performed at the United States Military Academy at West Point on Dec. 30.
"It was a true honor for my band to perform at West Point, as West Point has a long list of distinguished graduates such as Ulysses S. Grant, Stonewall Jackson, George S. Patton Jr., and Dwight D. Eisenhower, to name just few," said Fritz Scherz, band leader of FPB. "From the first note my band played that evening to the last note, the audience was really festive and the dance floor was crowded. That evening, we played everything from our modern-style polkas to blues to rock. I just wish my dad (FPB member, Fred Scherz Sr.) could've also played this gig, but he was a bit under the weather and couldn't be there. I'd like to give special thanks to Kate Wegman and Captain Ford Lannan for letting FPB be part of such a special event!"
